Lifeline Poetry Prompt | Weekly prompt

May’s First week Prompt Of Lifeline

Photo by Minh Pham on Unsplash

Greetings poets,

May already has been started. Today is the 3rd day of the month. I am here with an exciting prompt to begin this month full of joy.

This week’s theme is “Home”.

Home is something that provides us with security, control, belonging, identity, and privacy. There is no place like a home, not even a 7-star or a 5-star hotel.

For me, a home is a place where I can be myself. It is a place where you can enjoy freedom, comfort, and peace of mind. Having a home gives a great sense of security.

“Be grateful for the home you have, knowing that at this moment, all you have is all you need.”

-Sarah Ban Breathnach

My father bought our first house when I was around 15 years old. We sailed that house in 2020 because it was far away from me and my sister’s institute and it was hard for us to travel every day for about 5 to 6 hours. Another reason for selling that house was my father wanted to buy a bigger house and relocate from the previous area. I still remember the day when we have to leave that house. My eyes were filled with tears when I was saying goodbye. I never forget that house because there were so memories of me and my family attached to it. We have seen the good and bad days in that house.

Now, we are staying on rent and soon planning to buy another house in a nice locality. Since childhood, I have lived in so many different places before we bought our house. Every time, when we have to move from one place to another, it was tough for me because I easily attach to the place where I live. Buying your own house is a dream of so many people and I also have the one. I wish I will buy my house one day.

This week’s prompt gives you a chance to be more close to your home.

What does home mean to you? Is it just the house you’re living in? What are some good memories you have of your home as a little child? In a nutshell, write a poem about your emotions towards your home.

I would like to invite all the poets of Lifeline.
