Mastering the Morning: What I get Done in the First 3 Hours
How I master my morning and how you could master yours

Time is precious when you have children, a full time job and run 2 businesses.
There are never enough hours in the day, which is why I wake up so early every morning. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t get anywhere.
Mastering the art of the morning can transform not just the trajectory of our day, but the quality of your life. For me, it all begins at 4:00 AM, a time that most people reading this will wince at.
Why 4:00 AM? It is my sweet spot. I need 3 hours before anyone else in the house wakes up to get what I need to get done, leaving me the rest of the day to work and then spend with my family.
I do this Monday to Saturday, not Sundays.
It’s a time dedicated to personal growth, writing, and working out.
Writing
The first hour of my morning is dedicated to writing. This is not just any writing, but a focused, uninterrupted flow where my thoughts and ideas are at their height.
Whether it’s writing articles, scripting videos for YouTube, or drafting posts X, this is the time when my creativity is at its peak. The silence of the morning is like a blank canvas for my thoughts, allowing me to write, uninterrupted.
After
Following my hour of writing, I focus on content creation. This involves planning and producing material for Instagram, Pinterest, and other social media platforms.
I get more ideas flowing from 5am than any other time of the day. I think this is down to the writing I’ve just done and knowing I have this time to focus on what to do next.
Lifting and Shifting
For an hour, I workout. This not only challenges my body but also clears my mind, which to be fair is already pretty clear. This is an important part of my routine, acting as a physical meditation that prepares me for the rest of the day.
The rush you get from lifting something heavy or running a 5km is up there with a coffee in the morning, first thing.
Meditate
I settle into a 15-minute meditation session. Normally after a workout.
This really helps settle me down for the rest of the day. I normally use Headspace but lately have been doing unguided meditation.
Meditation changed my life, years ago.
It enhances my mindfulness, reduces stress, and improves my concentration. I can’t speak for it enough.
Day Trading
Between 07:45 and 08:30, I day trade.
This is where my strategy is most likely to show some setups. These 45 minutes are a period of focused trading where I am actively looking for trades.
It’s a time of intense concentration, where I have already done the work but am now scanning the charts and waiting for something to show.
It’s the main time I trade other than on my lunch break at work at around 13:15
Job
I work a 9–5 job. My workdays are a mix of home office and commuting into the city. The train rides are opportunities for some reading; I spend 30 minutes each way reading, normally non-fiction.
On the journey home, I engage on X, connecting with followers and staying updated on what has been happening, particularly in the markets.
Evening times are sacred, dedicated to family. After dinner, I do whatever my children want to do, understanding that success is not just measured by professional achievements but by the quality of our relationships and the happiness we find at home.
Fail to Prepare
Every night, I spend 20 minutes preparing for the next day. This includes planning my writing topics, making school lunches for my children, and laying out my clothes. This small investment of time ensures a smooth, stress-free morning, allowing me to wake up with a clear plan and purpose.
Mastering the morning is not just about waking up early.
Not everyone can.
If you read Why We Sleep, it might enlighten you.
The key is to prepare well and don’t waste a minute.
That is what the weekend is for
