March Prompt —My Most Valuable Possession — My SweetSop Tree
Can you imagine planting a fruit tree, and watching it grow to feed birds, ants, and humans?

I am not materialistic, and I am aware that everything I own is mine only while I am alive. I take care of all of what I own and share what I can. But I don’t put a lot of material value or emphasis on it. I enjoy life with what I have got because I am aware that I can drop dead tomorrow and will take nothing with me. So, I enjoy my earthly possessions.
My most valuable possession is a sweet-sop tree that I planted myself on my property. Sweep-sop is a delicious nutritious fruit that birds, ants, and humans love to eat.

It bears all year round. In Jamaica, we believe that when you share your fruits with everyone, the trees will never stop producing fruits. My sweetsop tree always has fruits on it. Every morning, birds visit and feast on the ripe fruits. What they miss, falls on the ground and ants enjoy themselves too. Then later humans pick the fit ones or the ripe ones that the birds didn’t get.

Also known as ‘Sugar-apple,’: Considered a very healthy fruit, the sugar apple is packed with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and lots of energy.
It’s rich in minerals like iron, manganese, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and phosphorus. Among vitamins, it has significant amounts of vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and B9 as well as slightly more vitamin C than grapefruit. It’s also an excellent source of phytochemicals and antioxidants.
I have a breadfruit and mango tree on my property too. I share with my community or anyone who passes by, and my trees keep reproducing. I didn’t plant these trees. Whoever did, left a priceless legacy behind that feeds a nation. It also, provides shade, a cool breeze on hot days, a home for birds as many nests are in both trees, and helps humans to breathe better.

Isn’t this amazing? This is a possession I am proud of and value more than everything else I own. Trees do more for the earth than some humans I know.
Everything in our world changes and our trees and fruits remain loyal and committed. How amazing is that? I can never be hungry, and neither can you.

Breadfruit comes with an extremely impressive nutrient content that delivers a host of medicinal and therapeutic properties. It is high in fiber, and proteins including essential amino acids that are valuable in regulating diabetes, lowering cholesterol levels, and enhancing skin and hair health.

The luscious, sweet tropical fruits are packed with so many vitamins and minerals they are great for our hearts, skin, eyes, and digestive and immune systems.
Packing more than 20 vitamins and minerals, including high doses of vitamins A and C, mangoes hail from the cashew family and are also low-fat — one whole mango is about 207 calories. One cup of sliced mango is about 165 calories and provides nearly 70% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C, which improves iron absorption, helps defend cells from damage, and aids the immune system.
The trees are my most valuable possession.
