“Having children just puts the whole world into perspective. Everything else just disappears.” — Kate Winslet

I fondly remember the day my fourth-grade son arrived home from school and announced that he had signed up to make Mexican wedding cookies or snowballs for a Spanish class project.

They were due the following day.

These delectable treats are made from sugar, butter, and flour combined with chopped nuts and then rolled in powdered sugar.

We proceeded to make the cookies according to the recipe. My preschool-age daughter happily joined us in the kitchen.

When the children hungrily bit into the warm snowballs, they were astonished to find they were as hard as rocks!

As if that was not bad enough, the children had scattered flour across the kitchen counters in their zest for baking.

Some flour had even landed on the kitchen floor and my son’s nose.

Our baking project was a disaster. We burst into laughter at the scene before us. Family moments like these are priceless.
