Making a Living On Medium

How to do it

It’s insanely hard to make a living with Medium alone. Yet, there are dozens of writers that make money sufficient for two or three people. I’m not one of them. I won’t ever be, I suspect.

What I need to make a living

Short answer, I’d need about $3500/month. Which at freelancing conditions in Germany would still not be much after taxes. But enough for me.

How many views would I need to get to $3500? I recently calculated my earnings per 1000 views. These came down to $34 and a few cents. So, I’d need at least 100,000 views to get to $3500.

Sounds like a lot? It is. Still, I firmly believe this is doable. Let’s play the numbers:

25 stories per month * 4000 views per story = 100,000 views
