Maggie’s List

Resources for the new, the old, and anyone else interested

honestly, I don’t know where to start.

  • I am a 24 years old girl from xxx
  • a 30-year-old single mom,
  • a 63-year-old woman…

These were some samples of messages from my inbox, on another platform, in 2018. They said things like this:

I don’t know why I am sending you this, I feel desperate and very much lost/alone/afraid/ confused. I’m brand new to the scene/just divorced/recently returned.

If I may ask,

  • Is what I feel normal!?
  • How can I be safe?
  • Do you think I’ll ever find someone?
  • Is there something wrong with me!!?

At that time, I was getting letters like this from young (and sometimes not young) women at least weekly, and less often, but also from equally confused men. So on my birthday, in May of 2018, I started a project on that site called Maggie’s List. We collected resources from all over the world and shared them on my posts and in a networking group for the next few years.

That group still exists on the other site, along with a group I recently started for women and AFAB folks to share on the topic of The Change of Life: menopause and perimenopause.

I’m spending most of my time here now.

For various reasons, I’ve decided to spend most of my time writing here. Furthermore, several people who write there have been choosing the same lately. So yesterday, I decided that I would launch a new publication just as I had launched Maggies List on my birthday several years ago. I will focus on many of the same topics I’ve focused on in the original Maggie’s List: Safety, Mental Health, BDSM, and LGBTQIA+. I will also be adding a section for erotica and one just for us crones and the men we love on sexuality and aging.

I hope you will join me. Over the coming daze, I will be posting the rulez and how to get added as a writer. Because many of the people who want to join me are new to Medium, I will also add some short writings about the mechanics of writing here. For now, the rules are simple. Please follow Medium guidelines, tag your posts using at least one of the topics listed above, and please stay away from politics. Oh, and for my friends who are new here, it’s important to know this rule: Medium does not allow posting, linking to, or otherwise promoting pornographic images or videos. Medium does allow erotic writing and non-graphic erotic images.
