Born 08/27/1908 in Texas. Lyndon struggled in school but graduated from Southwest Texas State (now TSU)

Johnson served on the South Pacific, on his return became Senator for Texas in 1948, was the youngest minority leader in Senate history, and JFK’s vice president in 1960.

After Kennedy’s assassination on 11/22/1963, Johnson swore as the 36th president aboard Air Force One. And in 1964 won reelection.

During his term, he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, established the Medicare and Medicaid programs, the Fair Housing Act of 1968, and increased the involvement of American soldiers in Vietnam.

He died on 01/23/1973 at his Texas Ranch.

Johnson’s struggled in school, and his aides summarized government material into half-page narrations, to make them easy to read.
