WRITING PROMPT RESPONSES

Lush Green and Darkness —Responses to My Writing Prompt №1

Writing my first prompt was a joy, and reading the responses to “5 Writing Prompts: Abandoned in the Forest” even more.

On the 10th of July, I finally wrote my first writing prompt. It was a spontaneous idea and a great joy. The forest was inspiring that day, and I decided to add photos to the prompt, thereby combining three passions of mine:

  1. Writing,
  2. Photography, and
  3. Sparking ideas.

But enough about that. Let’s get to those prompt responses.

Fifty Years Ago, Exactly Today, At This Hour by Eko BP

Did you ever read a story, and it stuck in your head for a couple of days? Eko BP tagged me on the 14th of July, and I’m still wondering about her story. Here is my initial response to the writer:

Wow. This is such an emotional and engaging tale: happiness and hope, sadness and rejection, all woven into each other. I read it several times to take it all in and appreciate the depth of your storytelling.

An Eye For An Eye by Sweet Chaos

I loved Sweet Chaos’ descriptions and how she built up tension in her story. An unexpected journey into the forest awaits, but what mysteries await there? Sadly, I can’t share my response to her story (spoiler alert! ;)).

Where Sleeping Dragons Lie by Christine Graves

OMG! I walked passed a dragon and didn’t see it. I’m glad it was asleep and that Christine Graves wrote this exciting poem. Prompting Christine was a special moment for me because her weekly prompts inspired me several times, and I love the stories she inspired.

I’m so glad I challenged you with a prompt for once. This turned out great! After reading your poem, it looks even more like a dragon. 😉🌹

An Unlikely Escape by Jann (a.k.a. me)

Yes, I inspired myself. While working on the prompts, I recognised that I was actually writing a piece of fiction. I saved it in another document and published it later. At that point, I still hadn’t seen the dragon in the picture.

The original prompts

Here are my original prompts that inspired those great stories. I thank all of you for these enjoyable tales and many more for their feedback on my prompts.

I am not in a writing prompt publishing routine yet, but I am working on the next batch related to the sea.

When I am not walking through the forest searching for inspiration or thinking about my next prompt, I am working on realising my writing dream. Why don’t you support that journey by reading my other fictional tales, subscribing to my email list or joining Medium with my referral link?
