Notes: Inspired by Hope Tala’s 2019 acclaimed song Lovestained. In this soulful, urban interpretation of bossa nova, Hope Tala provides the soundtrack for plummeting in love while fusing indie-pop and her Caribbean intonations. The bossa nova guitar is subtle if you’ve been spending an afternoon listening to the masters, but to new ears, it is a whole new world of sound.

The lyrics capture the beautiful edge of bossa nova, flipping the pejorative sense of “stained” to a metaphor for falling in love.
