Love Is Not Just for Valentine’s Day
Everyday love

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, whether you care for it or not, celebrate it by showering your loved one with flowers and chocolates, or consider it just another day; love is everywhere.
We experience love from the moment we’re born — a gift.
You don’t just put love on a shelf and let it collect dust. It’s in the big and small, in good and bad, inside each of us, found in unexpected places and unforgettable moments.
I remember this one quote from an episode in season four of “Little House on the Prairie” when Laura Ingalls’ dog Jack dies, and she’s afraid to love a new dog her father had gifted her. Maybe it was too soon, but this dog wouldn’t stop following her around; he wanted so badly to be a part of the family.
She ignored him for days, weeks, unwilling to risk loving another pet and enduring the pain of loss all over again.
Kezia, a new housewife in town, who became a good friend of Laura shared these kind words with her.
“That heart of yours will always have a place for Jack. But I bet it’s got a lot more room in it for loving. Hurting goes away. Love, never. Loving is the greatest gift the good Lord gave us. Don’t waste it. Not for a moment.”
Because I love that sentiment so much, I wanted to share my favorite small gestures of love that are found in the everyday mundane of my life, and probably in yours too.
Love is…
Ignoring my notifications and enjoying the moment.
Writing a letter in a card instead of a text.
Cleaning up after my fiancé cooks dinner.
Feeling the squeeze of a hug or a booty grab and enjoying it.
Going through thick and thin with a smile.
Giving my son the love I missed as a child.
Rediscovering and trusting the process.
Staying up late catching up on our shows, aware that in a few short hours, a tiny human alarm clock will shatter any hope of peaceful sleep.
Motivating each other and being a team.
Today, tomorrow, and on all the days to come, practice gratitude for the love you give and receive, whether it’s through acts of kindness, shared experiences, or being present with those you care about.
Love is a precious gift that brings meaning to our relationships. So, cherish it fully, appreciate it always, and let it guide you in building strong and meaningful connections.
