On Losing, Loss and Lost
Our Tiny Life Moment theme for the week

I went walking in the woods a couple of weeks ago and I got lost. I was in an exploring mood and I had never been to those parts of the woods. Ambling along under shady boughs, unseen birds chirped loudly and brown squirrels hurried away. A sluggish muddy brook meandered through mud, twigs and fallen leaves. I turned paths day-dreaming and enjoying nature. It was paradise unspoilt and I had walked for almost an hour before realising I was lost. Completely lost in the woods.
On losing
Loss, in its widest interpretation, is almost a daily occurrence for humans. Sometimes we notice, other times we don’t. Just in the last few days, I have lost my keys, lost my joy, lost my bank cards, all separate occasions. Thankfully I found my keys and my joy, but my bank cards remain lost.
- My mum lost her appetite but has found it.
- My sister lost her bag and roamed round the house until she found it in her bedroom, in the exact spot she had looked a thousand times.
- My friend celebrated her birthday on Zoom, and I lost the quiz game.
- We lose ourselves
- We lose time
- We lose things
The list goes on.
Writing prompt: 20–26 July
Losing, loss and lost is our theme for the week. There is so much we can learn from these moments. It could be physically lost, spiritually, mentally or emotionally lost or just a metaphor. It could be able something you lost, or someone you lost. It could relate to something you observed or witnessed. Interpret this how you want. It’s the reflection and lessons that matter.
I hope this prompt brings a wide variety of stories, funny stories, sad stories, encouraging storing, inspiring stories. Stories that challenge and move us. Stories that connect with us and shows us someone else’s perspective of life.
