Living the Boring Life
My life is kind of boring, but I like it this way.

My friend and coach, Kat Claussen, L.Ac, E-RYT, recently shared her recipe for living boringly and how it’s made her a better entrepreneur. (Story also linked below).
I’d like to think I’m boring, too. I’m a bit of a homebody. I used to love going out and even worked at careers that drew crowds.
While I love individuals, I’m not a fan of crowds. People change in a crowd.
Some would say my life is boring. Just the way I like it, though.
Living la Vida Aburrido
- I wake up early in the morning. Like 1:30 AM.
- I go to sleep around 7:00 PM.
- I read myself to sleep.
- I often read two or three books and alternate. One of the books I’m reading is The Awakening by Maya Collins. A wonderful, imaginative story.
- I don’t own a television. Haven’t for over a decade.
- The music I listen to most often is movie scores (background music). I love Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. Rachel Portman is also great for listening to while writing. I wrote a piece about Zimmer recently.
- I eat pretty much the same thing almost every day. Lots of fruits and veggies, grains and beans.
- I eat a Whole-Food, Plant-Based diet. I eat little processed foods, no oil, no dairy, and no meat. I have fond memories of all that, but my health is more important than meatballs or bread pudding.
- I like to walk.
- I don’t drink.
- Except water. I drink lots of water.
- I don’t exhibit anger, and I hold no grudges.
- One of my favorite pastimes is watching trees dance in the wind.
- Like Kat, I don’t wear makeup to bed. But I never wear makeup.
- I wear Black and Blue every day. I wrote about why.
- I don’t vacillate. My decisions come quickly.
- With my greatest friends, we can sit in the same room and not say anything for hours. And the silence is comforting. We enjoy each other’s companionship.
- Most of my best friends are animals (hence the silence).
- I write fast. I edit slowly.
- I live slow so I can die fast when I go.
- My To-Do list rarely has more than three items. On purpose.
- I plan for serendipity, so I schedule for margin. Lots of margin.
- I Die Empty Daily.
- Each Day is a Brand New Day.
This is Kat’s piece on her boring, yet exceptional life:
If you think your life has boring points (that you will guard and live fully), write them up and tag Kat. She will love them. I will, too, when I read your article.
