Living Like a Primitive in 2022? Here are the How, Why and 3 Benefits

Pretending to be in a remote village, far from civilization, is possible and I recommend it

Today a neighbor told me: “Do you know that the electricity has gone out in the whole building?”. I hadn’t even noticed. “Here the telephone network goes away every now and then. It’s almost like living in a village far from civilization”.

I thought, realizing that living like a primitive man in 2022 is possible. Not only that, it could also have at least three benefits.

This morning I was at home in the dark. I had the shutters closed to keep out the sun’s rays. It is an ancient way to fight the heat of summer. I also prefer natural shade to artificial lights on.

The important thing is to see each other sufficiently.

In reality, though, I had an active appliance. It was television. But only because I had made up my mind to experiment with a Pilates class. So I used the TV and wi-fi to go to YouTube and do the exercises.

I also believe that the video ended before the electricity went off. In fact, I didn’t realize it. I had the phone charging but the cable may not have been transmitting power.

I took a shower and got ready to go out. I didn’t notice anything. Only by meeting my neighbor, I understood what was happening. And so inside of me, I made some reflections.

Living like a primitive, even for just a few hours, can bring interesting benefits.

Here are some of them:

  1. Disconnect the plug. Sometimes abandoning the frenzy of everyday life can be useful. Disconnect from the world, from the continuous flows of sounds and voices. Free your mind. What is more precious?
  2. Save energy. In these times of crisis and rising prices, limiting the use of electricity could make sense. It almost becomes a gesture of individual and international responsibility. Of course, it can help us rediscover the authenticity of a simple life.
  3. Give up on the web and social media. This last point is already more common. It is often said that disconnecting from electronic devices is good for your mind and body. We are too dependent on notifications and texts. Is there no field to call? Does the light go out? It’s better that way.
