Jonas Kiprich was a motivational speaker, and he loved his job. Five hundred people paid $250.00 to listen to him. He stared at the audience, reading the emotions on their faces. Today, there were more women than men, so he decided to choose ‘Change’ as his topic. A set of twins called out to him. They were sitting in the third row of the middle aisle. He stared at them thinking, how different they looked, attired in the same outfit of different colors. They were beautiful females though.
“Good day!” he called out after taking the cordless microphone from the technician. “Today’s topic is about change. And there is a set of twins in our audience dressed in the same designer outfits. Please standup ladies.”
Shelly and Sherine quickly glance at each other, their right-hand rests on their chest saying in unison, “Is he talking about us?”
Standing up, Shelly alerts, “We aren’t twins.”
“Then why are you dressed in the same outfits?” Jonas asks, perplexed.
“We are best friends from the first grade,” Sherine announces.
With furled brows and still in confusion, Jonas went on, “Whose idea was it to wear similar outfits?”
Shelly quickly declares, pointing to Sherine, “She likes my style and life, so she is imitating everything I wear and do.”
With understanding, he inquires, “Why are you here?”
Shelly quickly told, pointing to Sherine sitting beside her, “She pulled me along because she wants to change her life. She thinks you are the best and I could learn something from you.”
Swaying his head in Sherine’s direction, Jonas queries, “Why do you want to change your life?”
Sherine stares into his eyes and says, “My life needs a change because no matter what I do, things just keep going in the wrong direction. Even when I change direction, I still end up on the same road to nowhere.”
Jonas smiles, as ideas flow into his brain like water seeping from a broken water main. Eying Shelly he questions, “And your life is going in the direction that you want it to go?”
“Oh yea,” Shelly agrees with confidence.
Viewing Sherine under a microscope, he said, “Well, to change your life, you must be the one living it. And right now, you are living her life,” pointing to Shelly.
Shelly turns to her friend with knotted brows and Jonas quickly continues, “Many of you are living someone else’s life and are wondering why your life is a mess. A lot of us want to change our lives. I hear that every day from someone. When I ask certain questions, I find out that they aren’t living their life. Change will not visit you if you are living someone else’s life. If you want change to visit you, start living your own life. By doing that you are giving yourself the power and strength to do the right things that will open the door to change. Then happiness will follow along with satisfaction. Stop living someone else’s life and start living your own life today!”
Many of us are living someone else’s life and aren’t even aware of it. If you are one of them, return the life you are living to the owner and start living your own life.
