Life is a banquet, and most poor bastards are starving to death. — Patrick Dennis, Auntie Mame

I love this quote because it’s so true. There’s so much available to us in life, but most of the time we’re focusing on what we don’t have instead.

So how can you cultivate more delight in your life?

Here’s some ideas to get you started.

  1. Try something new. One of the reasons people get bogged down in life is because they avoid new experiences and get stuck in a rut. Don’t let that be you.
  2. Travel more. You can start traveling locally and then get adventurous and take longer trips. Traveling takes you out of your normal routine and gives you a new perspective.
  3. Decide to follow the fun in your life. Do things you love and treat yourself with kindness while you’re doing it.
  4. Get out of your comfort zone. Do something wild and crazy. Take a chance on yourself.
  5. Stop tolerating things that don’t work for you and make you miserable.
  6. Stop listening to that critical voice in your head. You are OK just as you are.
  7. Do something that scares the heck out of you every day.
  8. Go for your big dreams and swing for the fences. You’ll never know how far you’ll go unless you try.
  9. Stop listening to negative people who don’t get you.
  10. Believe in yourself! You are capable of so much more than you think.

Key Message: You can decide to live your life with delight instead of fear whenever you choose. The point of power is with you right now. Use it.
