Little Freyja and Her New Toy
Did you know that you could combine oat grass with a ball that goes ‘round and ‘round in a track? It seems to be quite the hit.
Oat grass is quite the popular feline food item around our house. We have it growing in multiple pots on both balconies and the kitties head straight for it when I open up those balcony doors in the morning.
So when I saw this new gizmo that combines a spot for growing oat grass with a little yellow ball that goes ‘round and ‘round, I thought it might be a hit. Turns out, my hunch was correct.

I put these two blue beds side by side by the french doors into the garden so that the girls could see and hear the birds through the screen windows. They’ve taken to spending time together there in the afternoons because they can lounge in the sunshine. It never fails to lull them to sleep.

I had run out of potting soil and didn’t immediately plant the oat grass though. But the beauty of oat grass is that it sprouts within days.
Freyja has always loved these little track ball toys. And the addition of her favorite oat grass has been a huge bonus.

It’s really fun, too, to hide under a nearby chair so that you can be “stealth kitty” and jump out at the ball after mom gets it going.

But even “stealth kitties” get sleepy in the afternoon sun. It’s pretty hard to resist a good nap after all of that fun.

All photos were shot with my new iPhone 14 Pro Max. I used portrait mode for all except the one that I turned into the little movie. That one was shot on “live”mode and then I used the “loop” feature in the edit mode.
