Little Deaths
A Poem
in this life of lives every day we die a thousand deaths starting with that first cry that went unanswered leaving us feeling alone in this world
a mother busy a father gone a sister jealous brothers to compete with all these things from the slightest slight an unanswered phone call to the other extreme violence a hand raised to hurt us a body that does not work all this pain and suffering is what makes us human
we want to forget we want to run we want to hide but when we don’t embrace that what we are we lose ourselves
we need to remember all that makes up our lives all the hopes all the dreams and the pain and suffering too
and so every night we die a little death when we sleep and dream and enter the milky world of our unconscious
and every day we awake and rise with the sun souls reborn and we live another day dying a little death
