How to write 250 words about why I like myself? One word after another maybe….

I like that I am brave. I’ve taken bold steps to change my life. Out of respect for myself. I have challenged myself in ways I didn’t think possible — like sing lead in a rock band! Like moving country and hemisphere in my mid-40s.

I like that I care. For those who have less — money, privilege, power, opportunity, resources. For the people I love and respect— friends, and family, whether we’ve met in person or not. For myself.
I like that I write. I took up writing creatively again after a very long break. I now write almost daily, have poems published in real books, have co-written lyrics to songs, and am working on a book idea (it involves Jackdaws!). I’ve also met wonderful people through writing — they encourage, make me laugh, smile, cry, they make my life more enriched. And all because I started writing again.
I like that I have travelled and tried different and amazing things — I’ve slept in a penguin cave, I’ve abseiled, rock-climbed, camped in remote places, seen great live music and amazing art, I’ve lived in several different countries, learned to speak two other languages than my mother-tongue. I’ve eaten smelly cheese, kangaroo, reindeer, raw fish, and rotten fish (surströmming). I have also tried 600 different beers in the past three years.
I like that I have two amazing children. We don’t live near each other. That makes me sad sometimes. But technology is a wonderful thing and I love that we can keep in touch. They bring out the best and worst in me. They remind me how lucky I am.
