Like Mother Like Daugther
You can’t be mad at the daughter you taught
My mother taught me to lie about everything that ruined friendships- Sex, money, and love. What ruined our friendship was she got angry when I lied to her about these things. But I didn’t know how to be honest with her when she’d never been honest with me. And it made me uncomfortable talking about myself to her, so she still thinks I’m a virgin. I tell her I’m broke instead of how proud I am of the 1K I’ve saved because she stole the change from my sock drawer. I don’t tell her how I’m sad for her, but that I still love her. I can’t remember the last time she said she loved me. My mother taught me to lie. She forgot to teach me to not lie to her. Now the only honest conversations we have, are about the lives of others.
