Life Is Like a Boat
A rap series about life (part 3 of 3)
Life is like a boat,
A boat that you’ve got to steer,
If you don’t, these waves will pave your way to only god knows where,
Wherever you go,
There’s always sharks,
Beware, ’cause they smell fear,
You can’t just wait,
And except your fate,
It’s time to get your A into gear,
Some are all about making a family,
Some just want a career,
Others, they want to be famous,
Or to become a millionaire,
Whatever you want,
All I know is you got to persevere,
Life is what you make it,
So take it out of the square,
Be patient with the sharks,
And be grateful for the boat,
Life goes on,
So don’t sit around and mope,
If life is a book,
Make it a bestseller,
And illustrate,
Give it a little colour,
I guess in theory,
All I’m asking is to live a life less ordinary.

I wrote and performed this rap in highschool for my speech in English class. I was a bit cheeky and also submitted it as my creative writing piece in English and my solo composition in Music. I received top marks all around and was even awarded the creative writing cup for it!
My dad was suffering from Motor Neuron Disease at the time and has sadly since died.
