Life is Like Painting

Day 51: Each stroke of the brush is creating pure potential

I love painting. Not the kind of painting you do on canvas, painting the walls of our home is like creating new potential in life. I decided this week I would paint our small bathroom a new color to freshen up the walls, and also paint both bathroom floors. What a difference! Each of these spaces is being transformed, one bit of paint at a time. With just a little bit of work and imagination, we will have two brand new bathrooms without remodeling them. Yesterday as I was painting, I felt new energy all around me, deep within me, something is stirring. This feeling comes up often on my 100-day spiritual journey exploring the book Miracles by Stuart Wilde among his other works.

Taping, cleaning, and painting a room is a lot like a spiritual journey within yourself. You must take extra care and time to set boundaries, be slow and steady with your work, and take loving care of yourself along the way, creating something beautiful in your life. You will see the transformation as you go along, and be able to step back in awe and wonder at what you have created.

To overcome something once and for all means going within yourself to discover the real cause of the disturbance. This process of discovery will allow you more energy which you can use to create the things you want in life. -Stuart Wilde

Lately, I have been going within myself, discovering so many things. The process to clear away the doubts, the negative energy, and the problems from the past is one that takes time. Just like preparing a room for painting, everything must be cleared away first. You must strip the room of anything that isn’t necessary for the next step. In order to do this within me, I have had to get still, be silent, and let my inner voice speak.

As you come out of the intellect, and more into this magnanimous feeling of limitlessness inside of you, the simplicity begins to develop, and everything has a natural beauty. -Stuart Wilde

As I paint in silence and let my spirit speak to me, I feel a limitless power inside of me. The beauty that I am creating as I paint is one of simple beauty. I have started to take down extra decorations, or anything that doesn’t speak to me, I am starting anew, just like inside my heart. This process of painting, and creating new spaces in our home this week has been a journey for my soul as well as a home improvement project.

My prayer and intention for you today is that you look deep inside your spirit. What is there that needs to be cleared away, refreshed, and restored? What can be simplified in your life? How can you create natural beauty all around you? You are endlessly creative, every day. You are limitless. Let your creativity abound today!

How are you refreshing your spirit today?
