PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Life Between Sunrise and Sunset
Week 71 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
I’m a twilight lover. And no, I’m not talking about the movie (I haven’t actually watched that one). I’m talking about the time of the day. Sunrise and sunset. I love stopping my day for a moment to just embrace the beauty of dusk or dawn.
I love colors. You all know that. And that’s why I love it when the sky turns into a festival of orange, red and yellow.
In case you didn’t read my previous articles, I just arrived in Thailand about a week ago. I moved here. Don’t ask for how long, because I don’t know. But so far I’m loving it.
On Thursday I decided to escape the mainland and head south to the beautiful island of Koh Samet. I've been here twice before in 2019 and 2020. And yes, this is the beach I was staying at. The sun is setting on the other side of the island but the sky still looked pretty. And the beach of course.

Day two started like that. With the rising sun.
I slept with the door open. And this was what I saw when I opened my eyes.

More about life between sunrise and sunset. Look at this tree. Growing there, right on the beach. Standing strong in the surf. And still offering plenty of shade in the brutal sun of the tropics.

And this one is for all my writer friends out there who love to experience adrenaline through my words.
This is a Swedish student I took on his third skydive. Together with another instructor we launched from the plane, held him stable in the air, and actually released him for a few seconds as well. He’s done great!
This picture has been taken with a chest-mounted camera. Yip, those are my yellow arms, of course.

This morning the wind was howling. I didn’t dare to go outside but checked a few times my balcony even though I didn’t have any laundry outside. Well, eventually I had a shirt out there. Don’t know where it came from.
Later in the afternoon, I drove down to the beach to go for a stroll and take some pictures. I had started my scooter again and was slowly driving out of the parking lot when I saw this old-school scale.
I don’t know why, but it just attracted my attention. Maybe it’s the nostalgia. However. I stopped the bike, grabbed my camera, and took another picture.

And about that life between sunrise and sunset — it’s pretty good.
Since I had another two days off I decided to explore another island. Koh Si Chang is located in the Bay of Bangkok and is easy to reach from where I live. I took the ferry, rented a scooter on the island, and drove all the roads up and down.
And this is how my day ended. After a stand-up paddle session in the ocean.

While it would make sense to finish off this week with a photograph of a sunset, I will be ending with a moment of awe during a beautiful sunrise. As Jack mentioned in his piece, sunrises are just more quiet and tranquil.

This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge in summer 2020 and many have participated ever since.
