A THANK YOU FOR A LIFE

Lettuce Re-bloom

From grief’s fragility

Garden surprise-resurrection. Last year’s lettuce re-blooming. Photo by poet

My friend’s funeral Her photo at seventeen Shore and she share joy Seas of my heart part — pain, awe Fragile yet unyielding life

Shared past, shared future Spiraling eternal Now Beauty sings with birds See her, soaring with the gulls? Her smile, candle-lighting waves

Her spirit, the dew Our altar, her irises Green eyes — lettuce blooms

Thank you, Trista Signe Ainsworth, for the prompt encouraging these two tankas and haiku. They’ve helped me begin the long journey of processing my grief…May they help loss-stricken others process theirs.

Thank you as well to Trista’s fellow editors — Sharing Randomly and Ellie Jacobson.

Thank you, Susan, for gracing the lives of all who love you.

Dearest readers, I hope you know by now how very much I give thanks for you — daily.
