Let’s Talk About: Hobbies and Outlets Outside of Writing
Sharing some of my drawings, hobbies and childhood shenanigans.

Most of my readers and friends I’ve made on here are fellow writers which is awesome. I love hearing your unique perspectives. However, I’m curious to know if you guys have any other creative outlets outside of writing.
For me, it’s really important to have multiple ways of expressing myself. I love growing plants from seed, for instance. The way you can see their progress everyday and find new ways of nurturing them is endlessly inspiring, I find that it helps me get through creative blocks.
On days when I can’t write, but really want to make something, I tend to gravitate towards visual mediums. One of my favorite things to do is to draw. When I was in elementary school, I used to get in trouble for drawing on my desk everyday. If there was an opportunity to doodle, I’d take it immediately.
During recess, I loved to come up with weird comic ideas and share them with my friends. I remember that my favorite part about it—besides the self-expression it entailed—was making my friends laugh and smile.
A Tribute To “Nose Man”
Looking back, the comics were god awful. I mean, not to be too hard on myself, I was literally 10 years old, but man—they were bad.
To give you an idea, one of my recurring characters was a superhero named “Nose Man”. Guess what his power was? Super snot. Yep. Essentially, he was like Spider Man, but instead of shooting spider webs to travel and fight, he shot gross, sticky snot out of his comically gigantic nose.
One would think that because of his snotty powers his costume was green. But, no, little me thought a blue suit was the most fitting.

Nose Man had a blue cape, blue spandex and was bald, save for a single strand of black hair on the top of his head. I thought he looked so cool.
I’m certain that this abomination was inspired by The Crimson Chin and The Bronze Knee-Cap, two recurring characters from The Fairly Oddparents, an animated show I was very fond of as a child. They both had unexpected appendages as their central weapon. I thought: “Hm, what is another body part that could become a superpower–aha!”
Below I have made a tribute to Nose Man; the right side of the drawing contains the way I used to doodle him as a kid.

Other Drawings
Fun fact, my profile picture is actually a self-portrait I made two years ago, here it is in its full resolution:

This is another one, made using the Notes app on my phone:

Finally, this is a fun drawing I’m pretty proud of. Was experimenting with line shading:
