Don’t say a word! You got to act strong!

-said the demons

And once again….she woke up, put up a brave face, faked a smile and started her day!

The day went by and she told everybody that she was “fine”.

But in actual she was drowning…

It’s not the story of my friend only, but of so many people out there!

They don’t say a word, but inside they suffer.

Mental health is often overlooked, but it is just as important as physical health. In fact, they are two sides of the same coin.

Just as your body needs exercise and good nutrition to stay healthy, your mind needs the same things in order to function at its best.

Thankfully, I noticed that my friend wasn’t fine. I forced her to talk to me.

It wasn’t easy for her, but she gathered all her courage and finally opened up.

We talked, we cried and then we laughed! It felt good to let it all out!

That day I made a promise to myself that I will never ignore my mental health or anybody else’s for that matter.

Mental health is not a weakness, it’s a strength. It’s time we start talking about it and remove the taboo attached to it.

What to do when your mental health starts declining?

1) Talk to somebody

A problem shared is a problem halved!

Talking to a friend, family member, therapist or anybody else who will understand and not judge you can help you feel better. I know it’s not easy, but it’s worth it!

Take the first step today and reach out to somebody. You are not alone in this!

Don’t think that mental health is not important or it’s a sign of weakness. It’s time to change the way we think about mental health!

I remember when I was younger, I would see somebody crying and I would think “what’s wrong with them? They need to pull themselves together!”

But now I know that it’s not that simple. Mental health is complex and unique to each individual.

It’s time we start talking about mental health openly and remove the stigma attached to it!

2) Seek professional help

If you feel like you can’t handle the situation on your own, please seek professional help!

There is no shame in seeking help from a therapist or counselor. They are there to help you!

My friend finally decided to seek professional help and it has made a world of difference in her life.

If you are feeling lost, please reach out for help. It could be the best decision you ever make!

3) Take care of your physical health

Your physical health has a direct impact on your mental health.

When you are physically healthy, you feel better mentally and vice versa.

Make sure to exercise regularly, eat a balanced diet, and get enough sleep.

These things will help improve your mental health!

4) Do things you enjoy

It’s important to do things you enjoy and make time for yourself.

Self-care is not selfish! It’s necessary in order to maintain your mental health.

Do things that make you happy and relax you. This could be anything from reading, taking a bath, going for a walk, or listening to music.

Find what works for you and make sure to do it regularly!

You deserve to take care of yourself both mentally and physically!

5) Love yourself

Last but not least, love yourself! Be kind to yourself and accept yourself for who you are.

This is not easy, but it’s so important. You are worthy of love and happiness!

Start today by accepting yourself and giving yourself the compassion and care you deserve.

You are deserving of a happy and healthy life!

My friend, who I talked about earlier, is now doing much better. She is taking care of herself both mentally and physically and she is happy!

I’m so proud of her for making the decision to seek help and for taking care of herself.
