Lessons In Failure
Most winners revel in their victory until the new game begins. In contrast, the loser focuses on his loss and finds new and innovative ways for a stronger comeback.

“When we were growing up, I won all of the races in and outside of the classroom. Yet twenty years later, your life is better than mine from all of the cardinal points,” Lance said to Adrian as they entered the Community Centre in their community.
Adrian smiled as his life slipped back more than twenty years and replayed his failures. He sighed, pulling himself back into the now of his life, and shared, “when the game ends, for the winner, the celebration begins. For I, the loser, the game has just begun!”
Scratching the side of his head in confusion, Lance adds, “the game usually ends for both the winner and the loser.”
“Not for this loser, brother. You see, there are more life lessons in losing than there are in winning. The loser must go back to his reason, how, and why he lost. Most winners revel in their victory until the new game begins. While the loser focuses on his loss and finds new and innovative ways for a stronger comeback.”
Lance unconsciously halted his stride, stared at his friend as reality bites, and said, “So all of the time I was winning, I was preparing myself for failure?”
“I can’t answer that,” Adrian said, stopping beside Lance. He went on, “I know, for me, losing forces me to reexamine myself. I go back deep into myself after each loss or disappointment. I learn more about me too,” his hand instinctively on his chest.”
“Then what do you do after?” Lance questioned.
“I restrengthened and reenforced the weak areas. The taste of failure lingers longer than success, forcing me to keep trying.”
“So, the winner exhales victory, and the loser inhales loss,” Lance thinks out loud.
Swaying his head left to right, Adrian informs, “victory is delicious. Failure isn’t. But it stays longer with us, and for the ones who keep trying, it takes them to victory.”
Lance sighs again, then release, “winning isn’t really everything, is it?”
“It depends on the players.”
Yes, failure teaches more life lessons than success. Learn from your loss. It has lessons that will take you to victory.
