Legacy of Monsters Old

Source: Wikimedia Commons (CC0)

Well known viking Kings of old days All great warriors found and prospered Under skies both fair and cloudless When spoke all listened everywhere Good kings all they shield their kingdom Good kings all the people shouted

From race of Cain there came a demon Who haunted moor and mire and heath From him evil came to pasture Pressing all then terror filled And the Kings they girded tightly Riding to do battle fierce

But when evil comes a knocking Righteousness is not a virtue For they know not how to fight it So it triumphs for no boundaries Limit bloody gore filled action Tortures, kills then goes home laughing

So one night this evil darkness Doubled back when Kings rode forth Came upon the hall filled tightly With the frightened kingdom’s subjects Praying, crying, hopeful still Faith their leaders would dispatch it

But it shred a hundred warriors Brave men’s screams did rend the night Silence fell and hope filled fear That Kings return would sound victorious But no trumpet was heard heralding Safety ushered back to home

King and heir and heir again Sought to destroy the demon monster But each fell in bloody battle Bodies burned on biers so golden Watched they traveled final journey Down the river to Valkyrie

Then the great God chose the strongest Mighty champion who heard tales Of countless Kings and subjects murdered By monster laid none final rights And so withheld from deaths delights The possibility of Valhalla

Not the noblest but the bravest Warriors did our champion choose On ship accompanied they to heinous Horror filled a smoky lair For all now was this monster’s lair A place that no one willingly entered

Insisting all kept locked and windowless Lest they see him change his form To match his foe and rip it’s throat out When his warriors lured they evil From within it’s dark deep cave Above forsaken doors of hell

Protects now he from highland cliffs And not among the noble people Will he rule, he knows his nature Is only one hair from the monster Demon spawn his secret kept He fights his truth in endless battle
