Sandra looks gorgeous with her chestnut blonde hair and pleasant smile. Yet…an unknown messenger had told you that she and the other Vacation Roulette crew will kill you.

You wanted to go on the vacation anyway. Even if the unknown messenger is right, you and your partner have the skills to protect yourselves. But now that one of the vacation organizers is right in front of you, you panic and blurt out, “You know what? I feel homesick and don’t want to go on vacation anymore, I’m sorry.”

Sandra looks shocked and crestfallen. She seems sincerely sad. “Oh no. I know how bad homesickness can feel. Is there anything I can do to make you feel more comfortable? Since you already got here by flight!”

You shake your head, feeling more hysterical by the minute. Your partner wraps their arm around your shoulders. “What’s wrong, baby? You won’t be left alone. I will be here!”

“As will I,” Sandra says helpfully.

She does sound like a nice person, on the surface. But you feel increasingly spooked by the possibility of dying, that you cannot stand it anymore. “My apologies, but can I cancel the vacation? You don’t need to give us a refund, I’m very sorry.”

The woman looks very sorry too. “If you really don’t want to come, we will be sad to see you leave. Is there any feedback you can give us on how we could have done better?”

You shake your head again, furiously, because you don’t want to deal with any more of this horrific shit. Your partner, though upset, does not object.

Moments later, Sandra sends you a cancellation email. They even kindly refunded you anyway, and paid for your air tickets back home. Gee, maybe they were good people, after all. But it’s too late for regrets.

Did you tell your partner about the unknown messenger?

  1. Yes
  2. No
