“If it’s not fun, you won’t remember anything.”

As I mentioned before, I am a big lover of foreign languages.

You can read more about it in my previous article.

In this article, I will teach you one easy Korean word.

I will also show you ways to remember vocabulary more while learning languages.

So let’s say you want to learn how to say Banana in Korean.

I used this word as a first example because it is easy and it is said in almost every country the same (ok maybe not in Chinese language, but you get what I mean.)

Banana is almost always Banana(or Banan).

In Korean, you say Banana 바나나 (banana).

So how can you easily remember this (or any other word)?

You can make a simple drawing.

My old drawing that was made when I was learning Korean by myself. Image by Author.

When you draw, it is easier for your brain to remember things and connect words with a drawing.

This way you can get creative (it doesn’t matter if you draw like a 3-year-old child, it is only for your eyes either way).

The other way is to make a story about it. You can use your native language and foreign language only for a word that you are learning.

An example of a story about a Banana that I just made up.

I was hungry. I opened the fridge, and there was nothing to eat.

Then I saw it. In the middle of the dining room, in the nice round glass bowl, there was my favorite yellow fruit.

바나나.

See? It wasn’t that hard.

You don’t have to complicate the story at all.

The important thing when you make up this kind of story is to write it.

That way, you will practice writing your new words as well.

Next time when you will think about 바나나 you will remember this story.

I hope this was helpful to you. If you want a story about some other Korean words or other fun ways to learn languages, let me know in the comments.
