POEM: BELIEVING
Leap of Faith
Sometimes taking a leap of faith happens every day to get you to your next.
Believing tomorrow will be better than today
Carrying a backpack full of worry and uncertainty
I pull out items one by one before the clock strikes midnight
Too heavy to drag through time into another beginning
I rise higher, out-stretched on my tip-toes, raising my arms in the air
Ready to take flight, springing forward through time-zones, winding clocks, and skipped heartbeats
The Universe pulls its curtain open to reveal my path through
I leap, adopting a confident athlete’s long jump even in the absence of a disciplined, thoroughly trained career
Time stretches into the future 12:01am Hello, new day
I welcome you with fervent faith and anticipate the joy you bring
Tonight I will remember and will leap again
Some days I live by the minute, holding on to hope that the next one is better. Some days go by, and I hardly need to look at the clock. I exist in faith that each new day has the possibility of shining brighter than yesterday in one way or another. I will find the light or shine for others and myself.
