Your Spirit Forever to Last
Kobe Bryant, Happy Remembrance Day
There Once Was a Gentle Man
There once was a gentle man
Very big heart, he did stand
Bounced on the court the basketball
With lots of magic, as he enthralled
The audience roared his every step
While his teammates watched his rep
Running back and forth with ease and grace
Shunning opposing team from his pores came mace
He had a sly smile, you had to take note
Much wisdom came out as he spoke
He inspired the young and the old
Short life, but never wavered to be bold
At seventeen he was a lean mean machine
From high school to Pro, basketball was his spleen
He was a father, a husband, a lover of all
Tickets for all, Just Mercy, appeared and enthrall
Caring about others near and far
Made him bigger than any superstar
Yes, the world mourns the loss of such a great
But God said well done, your soul I now take
I know your absent and present will be missed
Yet your life spoke for itself and never to be dismissed
You did what you were sent to do, brought a light
Many are better from your life and wisdom outright
You knew your purpose day 1, never wavered
You turned mistakes around triumphantly, as a lifesaver
And showed others, to err is human, do your best
Never waiver from success, no time to rest
You lived a life, wealth, healthy, successful and blessed
You had a zest for life, upon your death, many did contest
Now God has said, come on home it’s time to rest
Here are you wings for basketball heaven, your nest
As you feel all the love and adoration up above
You heeded your call, soared above like a dove
With a record, never to be duplicated or surpassed
Happy Remembrance Day, your spirit forever to last
Happy Birthday, you came, you did, and left!
