Politics and Conspiracy
Just Own it Already, Tucker Carlson
Why all the prevaricating?

Last weekend, at a supermarket in a Black Neighbourhood in Buffalo, New York a young man with ideas and a gunshot killed 10 people, all of them African American. More were injured.
That’s all it took. Ideas and a gun. As events like this are not uncommon in the United States, I read the story with horror and then promptly moved on.
However, a few things have combined to keep this event in the news cycle longer than we would typically expect it to be.
The perpetrator had access to a military-grade assault rifle. This is not news anymore.
The victims were targeted according to the color of their skin. This is not news anymore.
Politicians on both sides of the aisle offered their thoughts and prayers. This is not news anymore.
The perpetrator used social media to post his 180-page manifesto of beliefs. This is not news anymore.
Tucker Carlson had to use his Monday night program on Fox News, not to cover the event, but rather to put out fires and throw smoke and mirrors at his own role in causing it and make sure that all his followers/viewers understood that he is not to blame and rather that it is Democrats who are trying to take away their First Amendment rights to freely express their views.
And that’s what’s news.
Tucker Carlson and his ilk (Ben Shapiro, Alex Jones, Laura Ingraham) have been banging on about the Great Replacement Theory for some time now. It’s what they believe is happening.
They believe that Democrats are purposely allowing a porous border and lax immigration laws to cause undocumented immigrants with high birth rates in to whom they will give the right to vote and thereby replace “legacy” (white, Christian) Americans, making them a minority in their “own” country and guaranteeing Democrat rule for generations to come, by permanently destroying whiteness. Carlson has himself referred to them as “more obedient voters from the Third World”.
In reality, the Great Replacement Theory needs to be filed under “How to get the stupidest people in society to vote against their economic interests and vote for you instead.”
Of course, anyone who speaks against this nonsense is violating your first amendment rights to say whatever you want, no matter how insane, without consequence. It is the reason why the GOP has been such busy little beavers in restricting voting rights everywhere they can.
I always find it fascinating that Carlson personalizes his monologues with “your rights” that are being taken away as if people wouldn’t be able to understand that he is only talking about “his rights” to say whatever he wants.
The Great Replacement is a conspiracy theory that has been around for a while, lurking under the cover of the darkness of the white supremacist / white nationalist movement. Though that movement has been relegated to the fringes until recently, America has always been built on the racism it advocates for.
But now that it is in the mainstream, the time for lurking is over.
To escape blame, Tucker Carlson may try to get us to believe that he is just playing a character on TV and that he actually has other views. It’s a defense that Alex Jones tried too, to little avail (and so, declared bankruptcy instead). The answer to that line of reasoning then is, “Fine, then it’s what your character believes”. The problem here is that his viewers have been left too stupid by an education system in shambles to be equipped with the necessary tools to be able to know the difference anymore.
So why does the extreme right never just come right out and say it? Why do they allow these “crazed lone gunmen” to do the talking for them? What not just own it, Tucker? Just say, “yeah, this is exactly what I’ve been waiting for to happen”. Stop trying to pretend it was a lone wolf gunman with a mental disorder. Stop trying to blame your opponents for trying to take away your rights.
Just say it. Off with the hood, already.
You want this to happen. You want your words to have the kind of power that would motivate someone to do this. You are going to try to ride this all the way to the White House. You would never do it yourself, of course, that’s not your role here. You don’t have to. You have the power to prey on the feeble-minded, weak and downtrodden and can easily convince them that they are not the architects of their own misfortune and rather that there are forces at work keeping them down.
This is true, there are. But you work for those very forces, you are a mouthpiece for your corporate and political overlords who use you to spread hate and sow fear. Cancel culture and culture wars are merely an invention of these entities and are used against people who just want to keep their hamster wheels spinning and are only now beginning to realize the consequences of this. As they become more aware of the reality of their realities, you will need to continue to invent things to keep them distracted and at each other’s throats.
The Great Replacement Theory is an example of this. It is bullshit and you know it is. But there are people who will believe it. That’s your demographic right there, that’s your sweet spot. And also your money train. People who are purposely kept too stupid to understand that it is those with millions who have convinced those with thousands that those with hundreds are the enemy.

It is one of the greatest cons of all time. You certainly aren’t the first one to use it. But you are its Chief Spokesman now.
You may think you are calling the tune here, that your revolutionary words are reaching millions of thirsty ears begging for explanations and answers in a world that is leaving them behind.
But all you are is just their shill. They throw you a few million to make you feel like you are one of them, but you are owned and operated, bought and paid for, just doing their bidding with that stupid look on your face. They will cut you loose just as soon as you no longer serve their needs.
They are the reason that you can’t just come right out and say, “Yes. This is what I believe and this is what I want to see happen.”
Maybe it’s for the best then.
