It’s Time to Set the People Free!

With each new day the COVID-19 pandemic becomes a Hollywood scenario thriller close to “Contagion”. As scientists search for a cure and a vaccine thousand innocent people succumb to the disease.

We strongly believe that governmental decisions should be driven by science. In this case the main focus should be to trap, constrain and destroy the virus before it infects other people and restart the economy sooner than later. Testing and tracking do not work at a large, global scale! They have increased costs and are highly inefficient since infections can occur anytime.

What have we learned?

SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) spreads from person to person mainly in droplets that fly out when you cough, sneeze, or speak. COVID-19 spreads faster and it is more contagious than we may have thought. People of all ages can be infected by the new coronavirus, preexisting health problems also can increase the risk. Covid-19 seems to most seriously affect older people, particularly those with pre-existing conditions such as heart disease, lung disease and diabetes. However, even in young people an increase in the virus intake could lead to a massive inflammatory storm that may overwhelm the lungs and other organs.

It happened in hospitals where physicians died, and more recently in meat processing plants

If the air conditioner is turned on in hospital settings, cruise ships, metro/ subways or submarines, the infections will severely increase because the infected person will generate droplets and viruses will be carried by the dust particles in the dry cold air in every enclosed space

The price of the lockdown is huge, a failing economy and long-term deterioration of mental health. Real unemployment rate soars past 20%

Mental illness may be the next pandemic after COVID-19 and mental health care providers and employers should make the necessary preparations to assist people in distress

The long-term psychological impact of related stress and anxiety continues to take its toll if lockdown measures are not being lifted.

During this time, decisive health action matters as well as governmental financial decisions. With a small change in behavior, every country will need to follow the Sweden model sooner or later. Although the above details mentioned bring bad news, there is also good news.

Good news!

A. First, important finding is that sunlight irradiation and humidity destroys the COVID-19 virus in less than 2 min.

This means that in the outdoors there is no virus most of the time and the virus is unlikely to be transmitted if physical distancing requirements are followed.

B. Second, in the indoors in places where the sunlight cannot penetrate far-UVC light (207–222 nm) can destroy the virus in less than 30 min without harm to exposed human cells or tissues (Buonanno et al., 2020).

Importantly , different studies have shown that no skin or corneal damage is induced by 222-nm UV light useful for sterilizing (Buonanno et al., 2017; Kaidzu et al., 2019).The easiest way to disinfect any room in hospital settings, meat plants, airplanes, subways or even submarines is to inactivate CoVID-19 with far-UVC light

The technology to build 222-nm UV light lamps is well known.

In addition to manufacturing ventilators building-up 222-nm UV lamps can be replicated fast. They can be distributed to destroy the virus in hospital settings, meat plants, airplanes, metro/subways or even inside submarines.

Therefore clear steps can be used to trap and destroy the virus everywhere using either sunlight or 222-nm UV light

It’s also time to open your blinds, sunlight irradiation and humidity destroys the COVID-19

The virus propagation can be fully disrupted in the next three weeks using facemasks and 222-nm UV light inside any building. Importantly these three steps are also required to prevent the second wave of infections

Wrong, less droplets, less virus outside, you don’t need “scientific evidence” to realise that.

2. Forced hot air also carries the particles…. not just the A/C.

The presence of hot air may destroy the virus, while cold dry air preserves the virus and that can infect you! That’s why A/C is the problem inside submarines, meat factories, hospitals. Using UV 222nm to destroy the virus is required
