It's Time To Have A Laugh!
There's nothing wrong with having a bit of fun now and then
Illumination is a writers platform and our mission statement includes doing everything we can to support our writers. It is for this reason that we as a team of editors, headed up by our leader, Dr Mehmet Yildiz, are constantly brainstorming on how best we can promote our dedicated writers. Of the many ideas being pitched, one I particularly liked was the topic of humour. With this in mind I have put together a short series of writers who not only enlighten and delight me with their highly intelligent thinking and artful writing, but they also make me smile, chuckle or roar out with laughter. Take a look and see what I mean.
First off Dr John Rose. The very first thing I discovered about Dr Rose was what a really great poet he is. Then I realised this is a man who combines poetic sensibilities with a scientific bent. However, the biggest surprise was what an awesome sense of humour he has got. Now you put all three things together and you are in for one hell of a literary ride
The following writer, Like Dr John Rose, also has a very fine mind and managed to give me a very prolonged chuckle with the article below, using humour to drive home a very important point. Lev Janashvili is clearly a highly educated intelligent man who we are delighted to have writing for us here. What I like is how he maintains the humour parallel to the logical thrust towards the point of what he is trying to drive home. Awesome.
Here's another writer who makes me laugh out loud almost every morning. When I go to my desk one of the first things I am looking for is Jim McAulay🍁. The reason is because not only does Jim write articles which are very informative, but he has a very funny profile and always ends with a lovely joke. They are the humorous bookends to all of his informative and entertaining writings.
Terry Mansfield ticks an awful lot of boxes, and fun is one of them. Terry also has a lot of common sense serious stuff to say too, like his take on how to get on in Illumination. But I was taken with this charming little vignette of life in the Mansfield household. Sounds like it's a laugh a minute in Terry's house.
And so we come to Britni Pepper, Little Miss Cool, Sassy, Fun personified. Let me say first of all that Britni has a heart of gold. However, she manages to combine that with a very sharp mind and an ever so naughty sense of fun. Take a look at this saucy little collection below.
And here we have a bit of a dark horse sneaking into the humour stakes, Thewriteyard. I always had Thewriteyard down as somebody who simply wrote beautiful poems and articles. She is obviously an educated woman and ever so polite. And then she blindsided me with this article below. I could hardly believe my eyes. In fact, Thewriteyard is more than worth investigating further for all the other great stuff that she writes.
And last but by no means least Geetika Sethi whose overall general demeanour sparkles with good humour and lightens up the whole atmosphere everywhere she goes. In the article below it seems Geetika is running a stud farm no less! I am only happy to be one of the thoroughbreds in the Illumination stables. Thank the lord Geetika didn't see fit to paint me as a none runner clod hopping donkey past his best and put out to pasture!
And of course, I cannot let the moment pass without a fleeting mention of my own humble and modest efforts at lightening up the mood when things get a bit heavy. Fact is, I am always up for a laugh whatever the mood. Thank you for reading, and please do enjoy all the above gems of Illumination humour.
