It’s Hard Enough to Get Followers Without Them Mysteriously Disappearing
Medium Says It is Working on the Problem, But Geez

Man, I was so disheartened when I checked my numbers and noticed that my follower count dropped from 4,759 to 4,517. Maybe that’s not a significant drop, but it sure seemed like it to me.
I have worked hard to cultivate an organic audience. To me, that means everyone who has chosen to follow me, we have had at least minimal interaction with one another.
I pride myself on replying to every single person who reads, claps, comments or otherwise engages with me on the site. Jaja Requa, I know you don’t think I always read your material. In fact, Alize Henry specifically told me that just yesterday or the day before.
Ladies, that’s not true. Now, I might not have replied, but I at least clapped or highlighted your work. That lets you know I was there.
I speak with you weekly. I read your material. I care. (That’s the name of a Netflix movie too. While they say this isn’t based on the real case that took place in Nevada, the baseline of the story is strikingly similar. Please look it up.)
Anyway, when I jump online, the first thing I do is check my stats. I like seeing my follower count grow. I even wrote about it in February.
So, to see the count drop was a little troubling. I, therefore, conducted some research. Here’s what I discovered.

This says: Following/Follower counts: We’re also experiencing issues with following/follower counts on Medium surfaces… clearly, you can read the rest, but there you have it. It wasn’t my imagination. The follower count did drop.
Hopefully, this will be resolved soon. I would like everyone who follows me to continue getting my material, even though I only wrote four or five articles last month. I’m not quite back just yet, but I’m coming.
While I’m at it, I might as well mention that August 4, 2022, is my Medium Birthday. It will be one year since I started writing. See why those follower numbers are so important?
