The Power of Poetry
It’s All Imagination

A swarm of stars arises from the sea
And my mind begins to wander; what does it mean? In every tear, a million names of people I will never know. In every sentence, a lifetime’s worth of stillborn beginnings. Every day is a new discovery; every day is a new adventure. This torrent of possibilities, this torrent of expressions.
We are all stars, swirling in the galaxy of our own creation. Our galaxy has no beginning; it has no end. The only moment stillness ever truly existed was the moment that preceded it. And if I try to understand what this means, I will find myself in the center of the universe. I will find myself in the center of the galaxy. I will be me.
Every word I have ever written is in my head; there are no pages to tear, only the emotions that brought them to life, the experiences that created them. Every word I have ever written is in my head, hiding in the folds of my brain — I retreat into the shadows of my mind to find them. I retreat into the darkness. Two worlds exist together, one in which I imagine myself living in. And the other, in which the walls of reality close in, enclosing me with a lump of broken glass that threatens to break at any second. One is real; one is not.
I am a star, and I am a human. I am a human, and I am not. And in this poem, I sit down to tell you about what it means to exist inside of both worlds.
A swarm of stars rises from the sea.
