It’s 2022 here on the east coast of Australia, so Happy New Year everyone!

My husband was the first-foot just after midnight, unfortunately we were all out of coal…

The person who is first to enter the house after midnight gives a piece of coal to the person who answers the door. The piece of coal signifies the giving of a warm hearth to the recipient and their family. This was always my Scottish family’s way of celebrating the arrival of another year.

May 2022 bring food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, clean water for everyone and a solution to this pandemic.
