When Sky came back, I thought it was for the reason that I needed to take care of her too. But now I know it is to say a proper goodbye.

My heart breaks every time I see you without water or dog food. When you scavenge from the leftovers they feed you, chicken bones that can kill you, or when your face lights up when I give you Phi Phi & Crocker’s treats.

When I comb your hair, because nobody does, even when I know it hurts you when they are entangled.

And it angers me when the only reason you are here is that the one who got you thinks you bring evil and bad luck.

I have a lot of Chinese friends and I respect their beliefs, but how can you bring bad luck when all I see is your pure heart and radiance.

But your circumstance makes me angry at the people who bought you and discarded you like a piece of trash.

And that is taking a toll on my mental health.

I will be forever grateful to you Sky; without you, I wouldn’t have gotten Phi Phi.

We will meet again in Rainbow heaven, those ugly humans, they won’t be there with us.

Always remember you are beautiful, we have a few more days together, and I will feed you the best treats.

I love you, and I know Phi loves you too.

Sky, this is how our story started.

Sky is a pom; I don’t own her like the dog before her I call Doggie — When I Woke Up, He Was Gone.

They are ‘owned’ by the building owner. Sky is staying here in the building for now. She is quiet, well-mannered, and behaved.

She comes inside every day, or whenever the front door is open. One day, I woke up late and when I opened the door, she was right there waiting. She came inside as if she was checking on us to see if we were alright.
