Summarize

It seems to me that spending a pretty penny on clothing with no intention of wearing could be explained by the need to fill a void and fool oneself with temporary pleasures, instead of doing some required and painful inner-work.

I heard this sentence countless times, sadly enough, "when I feel depressed, I go to the mall and do some crazy shopping!"

Irresponsible consumerism is another imbalance manifestation, a desperate trial to numb one's suffering from never feeling good enough — a natural result of the harsh life of conditioning that discriminated against the intrinsic worth.

Thus, looking for some extrinsic one through numerous means including shopping is the quick fix many tend to use out of lack of self-awareness, unfortunately.

A dangerous delusion is to believe that irresponsible consumerism is part of self-love and treating oneself. It is exactly how manipulative individuals succeed in exploiting you over and over again.

You are gifting your power without even realizing it!

It seems to me that we can't label what we don't control and do unconsciously — probably even almost compulsively as a ‘choice’, no matter how uncomfortable this truth may sound.

What you can choose intentionally, though, is to take your power back. “How can I do it?”, you’re asking?

Through destroying a generational curse and legacy that has never been yours: your distorted subconscious program!

I explored the topic of responsible consumerism a while ago here, should it be worthwhile:
