Summarize

Is Medium Truly A Medium?

Now more than urgent than ever, we ought to communicate with each other, heed each other and discuss how we see the world, and for me, Medium is the best tool for doing this.

This is a word.

This is a sentence composed of words.

A sentence becomes a complete thought if it relays an idea. A good idea comes from a pool of thoughts in an article. A good article is written for the benefit of a reader, by a writer. An article becomes well-refined and published through an editor.

An editor publishes a polished article through a publication. A publication resides on a good platform. A good publishing framework houses various publications to help spread well-rounded articles that will be of interest to the public, i.e., through Medium.

As Medium says,

“The best ideas can change who we are. Medium is where those ideas take shape, take off, and spark powerful conversations. We’re an open platform where 170 million readers come to find insightful and dynamic thinking. Here, expert and undiscovered voices alike dive into the heart of any topic and bring new ideas to the surface. Our purpose is to spread these ideas and deepen understanding of the world.”

We as editors of various publications serve as mere channels or means to disseminate the good pieces of writeups across the globe through this phenomenal platform called Medium.

By being worthy intermediation for the best notions, we can help change the world and make it a better place to live in.

This sums up how we can do this simply, of course by publishing great helpful writings through the different pubs that compose Medium.

Yet, how will we be able to do this if we editors have limited rights to publish in a pub. I am saddened by this fact because a recent incident happened when I was editing through Illumination. I haven’t realized I have been publishing for the nth time, and when I hit publish for an engaging story, what the heck, I got this,

I thought it was only a glitch. But when I got to do it again, that same note flashed once more before my very own eyes!

I found out this has also happened to our Illumination founding father Dr Mehmet Yildiz, and several other editors of this publication. He has written an enlightening piece about this:

I hope this is just a product of the modern AIs and never came from the deep-hearted developer and owner of our dear Medium, sir Ev Williams.

As the famous Michel Templet says,

“If you’re not going to use your free speech to criticize your own government, then what the hell is the point of having it?” ― Michel Templet

To quote from our famous then U.S. President Abraham Lincoln,

“Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth.” — Abraham Lincoln

This is just an honest-to-goodness opinion from the undersigned.

Thanks so much for reading! Stay well and safe ever.
