Is Medium Biased in Boosting Stories?

I'm sure it crossed your mind.

You frequently wonder why you haven’t had any stories boosted by Medium yet, and you’re still waiting for one. Sometimes you get angry and feel like it’s not fair after seeing a number of writers share their boosted stories.

Or you've already had a boost, but you're craving more and believe you deserve another, or you're simply addicted to getting boosted.

You'll get a lot of views and engagement in a day, and it'll last for about a week (maybe more, maybe less; I have no idea), with notifications and new people visiting your profile all the time.

It can literally boost your profile, audience, and earnings.

And I speak from experience because I was boosted; it was quite strange, and I'll tell you all about it in a moment.

Having said that, is medium biased?

Do they choose stories that benefit them and the writers they prefer (the elites), or do they play it fair and choose the stories that deserve a boost?

In my case, I believe they were a little biased.

I am not judging; I love Medium from the bottom of my heart. I love the community here, the friends I have met, and the connections I have made. It's really a great platform, and unlike many writers, I think that Medium is very generous.

Many writers complain all the time about how medium doesn't pay well and so on, and I don't blame them; they put in so much time and effort and deserve to be rewarded.

And, yes, Medium is very addictive, so many writers (including myself) spend a lot of time there.

But think about it for a second: you only need 100 followers to start making your first $1, and after that, it's up to you to make it from there.

I am convinced that Medium is the best and most generous platform for beginners.

Back on topic, I published an article on February 16 that had a few views, like 30 or so, until March 6, when I got 28, and I thought, Yeah, okay, it happens; I had no idea it was boosted.

I heard a lot of writers talking about it and saying that they send an email or notification or something like that when you get boosted, but I didn't get any.

So as the number of views steadily grew each day until it was consistently 80 or 90 per day, I knew it had been boosted. Take a look.

I won't lie, it was pretty amazing; I enjoyed it while it lasted (I believe until March 20), and after that, it continued to receive views because the article had gone viral, but only 5 to 10 per day.

It was really weird that all of a sudden I started getting notifications about an old article that I had forgotten about.

So now, after looking at how it happened and reading the title, do you think Medium is biased?

My title literally says something positive about the platform; I have its name in it, and I am encouraging its own users not to leave. What else do they need?

Businesses pay people to do that for them, and I believe they did so by boosting it. They won, and I won.

I'm not here to brag or anything, and I will say that they may be a little biased, and it may not be fair, but every other platform or business does this.

Forget about writing for a moment; if you own an online business, a store platform, or anything else, you either pay money to advertise your product, store, or website, or you spend hours trying to get traffic.

Medium does this for free when they boost a story.

Of course, on their own terms, whenever and whatever they want, but they are still doing it.

What do you think? I would love to hear your boost story.

And if you haven’t had your story boosted yet, don’t worry; your turn will come. Just keep writing.
