Summary

The website content describes a 'Multiplier of Five' Poetry Series Challenge, where poets are invited to write five poems in five days, each poem consisting of exactly 25 words based on a daily resolution.

Abstract

The 'Multiplier of Five' Poetry Series Challenge is an initiative that encourages poets to create concise and thematic poetry. Participants are tasked with composing five poems over the course of five consecutive days, with each poem limited to 25 words. The challenge was started by an unnamed poet on October 23, 2020, who also completed the series with resolutions centered around personal goals and artistic exploration. The themes for the poems included daily resolutions, reading habits, writing projects, musical composition, and scheduling for future months. The completed poems were published across various Medium publications, including ILLUMINATION — CURATED, Age of Empathy, Paper Poetry, Flicker and Flight, and Blue Insights. The challenge has seen participation from other poets, namely Amy Jasek, Era Garg, Dr. Preeti Singh, and Susannah MacKinnie, who have shared their own interpretations of the challenge, showcasing a diverse range of poetic expressions.

Opinions

  • The challenge is seen as an opportunity for poets to experiment with language and condense emotions into a limited word count.
  • The poet who initiated the challenge views it as a way to inspire more creativity and exploration in their own work.
  • The act of writing daily poems on resolutions is believed to be a method of personal growth and accountability.
  • Reading books daily, starting pending writing projects, composing musical tunes, and creating a schedule for upcoming months are all personal resolutions that the poet has successfully integrated into their life through the challenge.
  • The poet expresses that the challenge has helped them to overcome procrastination and rekindle their passion for reading, writing, and music.
  • The participation of other poets in the challenge is encouraged, with an open invitation to tag the original poet in their own series to foster a community of shared poetic experiences.

5 (five) poetries in 5 (five) days, each in precisely 25 (twenty-five) words (spaces not counted). The theme for me is ‘a day’s resolution.’ So, each day, I will write a poem based on the resolution I will take for the day, and on the next day’s poetry endnote, I will share how it went through.

I started the ‘Multiplier of Five’ Poetry Series on October 23, 2020, as a challenge to write five poetries in 5 days, with five resolutions, to be written on 25 words in each poem. As I’ve completed the challenge, the following is the compilation of the five poetries (and relevant themes of the poems) for the reader.

Theme: Inauguration of multiplier series, so that I can do more experiments with the poetry words in the upcoming time.

Publication: ILLUMINATION — CURATED.

Theme: ‘Start reading books on an everyday basis,’ as I had some detachment from reading books every day that I used to be. After writing the poem, I’ve started reading books every day and will continue in the coming time too. Books are amazing stress-relievers, too (along with the hypnotizing spirit).

Publication: Age of Empathy.

Theme: I had a long pending writing project, which I couldn’t start for the last six months. The topic was about the religions, faiths and science and the relevant dilemma. And I’ve almost finished the first part of the series.

Publication: Paper Poetry.

Theme: ‘Crafting tunes, breaking barriers’ I used to compose a few musical tunes for fun previously, but I wanted to explore more on that aspect. Based on my resolution, I listened to different musical compositions to learn and create (still, continuing). Fun tunes are coming in the coming time.

Publication: Flicker and Flight.

Theme: The last day’s resolution was to prepare a tentative schedule for Nov and Dec and stick to that plan. I have completed the tentative schedule for the next two months, and I’m continuing to follow it from the next day till now.

Publication: Blue Insights.

Amy Jasek, Era Garg, Dr. Preeti Singh and Susannah MacKinnie had come forward and joined to share their beautiful words with this challenge already. Please check out the following incredible contents in this regard.

Anyone up for this challenge! You can join in the challenge, and the theme is up to you, or different days can have different themes. If you are up for it, I’ll request to tag me at the endnote of the first poem you write so that I can follow your series too.

Come, herewith reflections of thoughts to words pen to paper themes to adhere emotions to appear, poetic flow compacting unbounded feelings into 25 bounded words.
