Interesting Thoughts from Other Writers That Made Me Go Hmmm 🤔 or LOL 😂

My Weekly WTA: What The Ah-ha Moments — Final Issue

Photo by Ross Findon on Unsplash

I wanted to do shoutouts to authors, and I was going to do it in a newsletter, but everyone is doing one of those, it seems. I recently deleted most of the ones I subscribed to and didn’t even read the ones I think are stellar.

I decided that starting my own was not the best investment of my time. However, I still wanted to put together a piece highlighting things I learned or authors that made me laugh hysterically -in a good way.

My Fellow Mediumists 📖

The weekend is here yet again, and it’s back to frigid temperatures where I live.

I want to let everyone know that this will be my last WTA issue. I’ve loved doing this for the past 4 months. But true to my ADHD need for change and novelty, it’s time for me to pivot.

You will have to keep reading my stuff to find out what that is. I’m looking forward to finding out myself.

But for now, I have lots of gems to share. So, in the words of ChatGPT, let’s dive in! (Just an aside: In addition to Chat ruining my love for some words and phrases, he is now encroaching upon my love for using the colon in my titles).

Back on topic with my first pick, and it’s a 🤔

This one by Susie Kearley takes a look at nature with some beautiful photos by the author herself.

It’s a look at how we all share this earth, even though we often feel disconnected from one another, including the creatures or critters around us.

Next is another 🤔

In this article by May More 💜 Tales, she looks at how we may not be the best-fit experience-wise for a job, but get offered it anyway. You must read this to find out how her legs might have landed her the job and what she did.

Spoiler alert: it’s a plot twist within a plot twist within a plot twist by the time you get to the end. And yeah, it’s that good!

Next up will also make you go 🤔

In this post by Kanimoli Ramaiah, she explores how women become more like their mothers as they age. Now, I will be the first to admit I swore up and down that I would never be like my mother in a million years.

However, if I’m being honest, I have taken on more of her traits as I’ve gotten older. I also understand more about why she behaved as she did when she was alive.

It’s a fascinating generational look at women and their mothers, well worth reading.

Now for a real 🤔🤔🤔

Jes Kerzen provides a heartfelt story about her class of special needs students. It’s a beautiful reminder about how we all have our unique ways of understanding and exploring the world around us.

I found this story thanks to Maria Rattray’s suggestion and am so glad. Thanks again, Maria!

My only mention this week to make you go 😂

This next one by mitch, one of my favorite authors to read, writes about a topic we can all relate to: the toilet seat conundrum.

Nothing is much more shocking to the system than plunking down half asleep and feeling like you are being sucked into the toilet bowl.

If you don’t believe me, read this to find out how Mitch’s wife reacted.

Bonus poetry pick 🐒

I love monkeys, and anything with that in the title will likely draw me in. This one by Emika Oka (Mika) is not only using one of my favorite animals, but it will make you 🤔 too.

We all fall, but ultimately, we must get back up again. This is a great poem about resilience and never giving up.

Finally, two of mine will have you 🤔 and 😂

This first one will have you laughing and maybe even doing a little screeching. It’s about my first encounter with mice in my home.

It starts with a retelling of how we did a little dance in my bathroom and how it ended with me contemplating the more ethical issues of rodent control.

I also offer some intriguing data and practical suggestions. I know imagine that — me using numbers in my article.

The second I wrote to celebrate my 100 publications milestone.

It ended up being a little longer than I liked, but if you can get past the length, I talk about my journey and how I learned to lean into my writing strengths rather than shying away from them.

Happy Reading 📃

In the meantime, I will keep discovering, keep laughing, and keep the ‘ah-ha’ moments coming in some fashion. So, stay tuned for what comes next because I am just as interested in finding out as you are 😂

P.S. — If you found this relatable or interesting, why not hit the follow button and subscribe? It’s like building a little community, and you’ll be the first to know when there’s something new.
