Innocence And Art

My creative abilities will always be there!

Enjoying the magnificent and beautiful Sharing Randomly poem: ‘You Will Always Be There.

What Sparks Joy: Reading her power of words, I realized that I was born creative. As a child, my mother could hardly feed us, so there was no money for toys. We made our own cloth dolls. We drew the design with a pen on cloth. Cut the cloth out, then sew it by hand. Then we turn the design inside out, then stuff the dolls inside with bits of old cloth and stitch them up.

Then we sew the hair on her head. We did that by cutting pieces of cloth, then sewing it on the back, and cutting thin pieces of hair that we could comb in one or two. Some dolls had full hair, others had thin hair. We sew on tiny buttons for the eyes and half buttons for the nose, mouth, and ears. We all design, cut, and sew her clothes by hand. We also made paper dolls and clothes too that we design, and colored. Then we dress our dolls.

I still can, because they taught us to sew and embroider in schools in my country.

Born in poverty not enough to eat Nothing to play with, trouble we would meet Desperation, boredom, and curiosity was the game, We create our toys, that was our aim

Seven, eight, nine, or ten years old Age didn’t deny us of our ability to score a creative gold Determination, innocence, and failure battling to win Curiosity refuses to give in

While testing our minds and abilities against failures doors Unaware that curious minds can never be bored Curiosity provides fuel for children's imagination Sharing solutions to their creative situations

Cloth dolls we make from scraps We didn’t need a designer or a map Cutting, creating, and sewing our way to joy Using cotton, linen, polyester, or corduroy

Using buttons for eyes, ears, mouth, and nose Specifically designed fingers and toes Elbows and knees, yes we added those Happily designing and sewing their clothes

A work of art, from a child’s mind Who would believe that poverty would be so kind Being poor enhances my creativity It became a worthwhile activity

Creative innovation gets better as I age Life trials and tribulations, push it on the back page Fate or Destiny created an entrance Pushing me back into a world of remembrance

My creative abilities will always be there Poverty made sure I hold that talent dear Whatever problems life throws it’s always near Providing solutions removes all of my despair.

My life is a story packed with creative solutions, remedies, and cures. I guess I can say I was lucky I was born poor because of that four-letter word that my creativity is limitless and has no boundaries. I am in control of my creative ability. That is a good thing. Lol.
