Inner Well-being

What does it mean to me

January 2023 monthly theme by Jason Edmunds is Wellbeing and has inspired me enormously.

Inner well-being is all I’ve been looking for my entire life.

Since I was young I always gave importance to the way any human being surrounding me was feeling. I could easily recognize inner upsets in others, even when apparently disguised through smiles and false appearances.

It took me some time to dive into myself and find out what made me feel good. I was motivated to find out all the aspects related to this matter, which brought me to study psychology. I went on a personal path of discovering the functioning of the human mind and behavior. And here I am, today, writing about inner well-being.

Inner well-being represents to me a state from which I can enjoy anything happening in life. This means I’m in a condition of balance, without ups and downs, from where I’m able to surf placidly on the waves reaching me.

Transcendental Meditation

The strongest tool I’ve had at my disposal to keep me constantly in balance (I would like to say permanently, but it wouldn’t be true), is meditation. In my specific case, it is Transcendental Meditation.

By dedicating two sessions of twenty minutes each, one in the morning and one in the late afternoon, I’ve created a habit of calmness that can rarely be interrupted by external events. Having loosened the practice for some years in the recent past has shown me the difference in how I took things in my life, especially those I didn’t like. So that by now, here I go again with my daily practice.

I heartedly suggest to anybody to find a moment during the day to dedicate to a practice like meditation as it is very effective and reliable in establishing your inner well-being.

Nature

Nature is also a reliable fount of wellness to me.

After many “city” years, spent as a young professional in the mental health field, I’ve returned to appreciate the joy of living amidst nature.

It is a rare opportunity for instant daily wealth. I’m very grateful to have it in my life and I hope it will never end. Nature can keep me balanced and helps me position myself in relation to all the other living elements.

I wish you all to spend more time in contact with nature as it is a means of free recharging and balancing your energy.

Conclusion

I think inner well-being is a journey, not a goal. Everybody has got different chances in experimenting and coming into contact with techniques and environments that lead to their well-being. It is an individual responsibility to search and find out what is most useful to them.
