In Your Brown Eyes

Prose poetry

In your brown eyes, I’m captivated by your sweet face. I’m lost in the maze of your gaze where your smile shines back at me from across the room.

I’m like a child, giggling, blushing uncontrollably, boldly introducing myself.

I feel the pull of instant attraction, the crowd fading away — it’s just us.

In your brown eyes, I can’t look away; we talk, we laugh, and I wonder, is this love at first sight?

You say ‘I love you’ first, and I echo it without hesitation. Or did I say it first? Either way, I’m glad we both knew and felt it.

In your embrace, I feel your warmth; under streetlights, our lips meet.

In your brown eyes, disagreements fade, replaced by apologies and compromise, leaving petty arguments behind.

Games end, as we confront the reality of making it work.

I find the strength to walk away, knowing I cannot stay.

In your brown eyes, we part ways, the memory lingering as a bittersweet echo.

We meet again, older, as strangers or distant friends, reminiscing about shared memories.

We exchange greetings, a quick hug, and promise to stay in touch despite our new loves.

In your brown eyes, seeing you is always a joy. As we part, I silently wish for your happiness until we meet again.

Or not.
