In the Wheat Fields
They made plans with each other…
Fiona danced through the almost barren field, and imagined she was at one of those fancy balls she’d heard about. The kind that they had up north. And while the last sheaves of wheat were busy being bundled up by the farmhands, Felix was busy avoiding anything having to do with work.
They stumbled upon each other in the barn, as they often did. They laughed a bit and joked with one another before collapsing together on last season’s bushels of processed grain. Plans of running away were discussed as always. But in the end, they both knew they’d stay.
This prompt A Drabble a Day 4: Rise of the Drabble is by Grim Flandango in The Fiction Writer’s Den. The word today is BUSHEL.
This 76th drabble is written as part of the “100 Story Challenge” by Zane Dickens the Instigator.
