Let’s Get Real
In Her Arms
A tapestry of life in free verse

I see in my daughter’s face a softness of gaze that is eternal
and with it
a malleable bond of gold maternal and sacred
for in her arms a tapestry of life she nurtures
my heritage thread helixed divined into the future
my granddaughter come bless her

Dedicated to my daughter and daughter-in-law and their daughters for Mother’s Day 2023, and extended to all mothers and daughters in whatever form that may take, past, present and future.
I’ve written this piece in response to Paper Poetry’s Let’s Get Real prompt where we’re taking the poetry challenge right up to ChatGPT’s botbits and showing it how to write real poetry with the looks ’n’ feels of words that have soul and creative expression — then again we don’t want the chatbot to know what we’re up to, do we?! 😬 🤫 😉
The italicised words in my poem are ones I’ve lifted from ChatGPT’s poem, Maternal Love Blooms, which is the base text for the Let’s Get Real prompt.

This is your chance to turn phony bot poetry into unique word art as only you can. Are you inspired to take on the challenge? — Sheri Jacobs | John Hansen | Dr. Fatima Imam | km. rowe | Toni Crowe 🙏 💖
