Improve Your Work-Life Balance With These 3 Top Tips
With lines blurred more than ever — here's how to strike a healthy work-life balance for those who work remotely.
It’s a common struggle for us remote workers to strike a healthy work-life balance because the lines are more blurred than ever before.
However, we should be prioritizing our work-life balance, making it a key part of our daily self-care!
Juggling responsibilities of work, home, relationships, the family, can be tough and often leaves us with a lack of time for ourselves. We let work get in the way of life and other people's problems get in the way of our own, we never have the time to focus on our own wants and needs.
3 practical tips for improving your work-life balance
Set Boundaries & Unplug
Like everything in life, we should set boundaries to avoid burnout. No one can go at something 24/7 without taking a break… or burning out! Often easier said than done but creating a schedule helps, let people know the hours that you work, give yourself plenty of breaks throughout the day and set aside some time for yourself. Identify what’s truly important to you and make time for this. Something that’s totally different from your day job, which will allow you some time to totally unplug.
Exercise
Even during our busiest days, we make time for sleeping and eating, yet exercise always drags on and on, moved to tomorrow priority yet… tomorrow never comes.
Exercise is the best way for our bodies to release stress. Exercise boosts our moods instantly and pushes endorphins through our body making us feel good. If you’ve never been one for working out, try something that requires less effort yet still makes you feel just as good.
Starting small with something like deep breathing exercises or stretches, you’ll start to notice the difference in how you feel, you’ll reduce any of your stress and tension, and in turn see an improvement to your work-life balance.
Create a Morning Routine for yourself
If you want to dominate your work-life balance, then you need to take control of your mornings.
Make time for yourself in the morning, don’t check your emails, don’t speak with clients —just focus on yourself.
Start by dedicating at least 30 minutes to yourself, every morning.
Yes, every. single. morning!
Stop making excuses immediately and prioritize your morning routine.
Although it may seem impossible to maintain a healthy work-life balance, these 3 steps will help you get a hold of your day and you’ll notice improvements along the way.
There will always be a way to find or create time by prioritizing what really matters to you and eliminating all of the other non-essentials in order to make it work.
Find a minute of your day today to create a quick but powerful and productive morning routine for yourself, schedule some time in your day to unplug, and block out 30 minutes to do a home workout.
Build a routine that works for you and rest will fall into place.
