FICTION | DRABBLE WRITING PROMPT | RANDOM WORD

Impetuous Lies of False Intimacy

His lies entangled them in a web of shame, leaving unseen scars

Since a drabble is so short, please stay on the page for at least 30 seconds, though I would prefer you read, highlight, and comment.

Random Word Drabble Challenge Day 38 Word Is Using

“Are you using me?”

“No, how could I be using you?”

“My girlfriend told me that she thinks you’re using me for sex, is that true?”

“How could I be using you for sex? We’ve never even had sex.”

“No, but since you’re telling everyone that we are, isn’t that the same thing?”

He sighed and said, “I thought it would — I don’t know, make me look more mature.”

He looked down, ashamed. “I guess I needed attention. I never thought about how it would affect you.”

“Your need for approval cost my reputation. More than you will ever know.”

Be careful about including others in lies that you believe will bolster your reputation.

A drabble is exactly 100 words, no more, no less. In this case, the random word to build the story around is “using.”

Thanks to Nancy Oglesby and Fiction Shorts for the daily challenge.

Here are three other drabbles for your enjoyment.
